Frequently asked questions

Before your session...

Where are you located?

We’re based in Queens NY, but we’re always on the move! Our packages include travel within a 50-mile radius of Bayside, which covers a lot of Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island, Hudson Valley, South Connecticut, and North Jersey. If you’re outside that zone, no problem - we’re still happy to come your way. There’s just a small travel fee per additional mile

What’s your style?

We’re natural light, lifestyle photographers. That means no stiff posing, no forced “say cheese” smiles, and definitely no awkward school-photo vibes. Instead, we’ll gently guide you into moments that feel natural, relaxed, and real. Our favorite images are the ones filled with love, joy, movement, and just the right amount of beautiful chaos. When it comes to editing, we keep colors true to life for a timeless feel, with a little extra pop to make your photos shine.

What time do sessions take place?

For in-home sessions (newborns, families, or our portable studio setup), starting the morning sessions between 8:30 and 10am usually work best. That’s when the light is soft and beautiful—and when little ones are typically in the best mood. But if your family’s rhythm leans more toward the afternoon, we can absolutely make that work.

Outdoor sessions are usually scheduled around golden hour (which will change depending on the season of your session!) - either shortly after sunrise or in the hour or two leading up to sunset. That’s when the light is soft, glowy, and super flattering! If that sounds like a stretch with little kids, I totally hear you—but if your crew is up for it, it really is worth the tiny routine shake-up. We just try our best to avoid outdoor sessions in mid-day sunlight as that casts really harsh shadows and can cause some major squinting!

What should I expect during a session?

A low-pressure, playful, and genuinely fun experience. If your kids are involved, don’t stress about them sitting still or following every direction. We’ll absolutely get a few all-eyes-on-the-camera shots, but mostly, we’ll let your family do its thing—playing, snuggling, laughing, and just being yourselves. We’ll gently guide you with some light posing and prompts, but the session should feel more like a great family hangout (with me tagging along with a camera).

I’d love to do a session in our home, how does that work?

In-home sessions are some of our favorites! There’s something so personal and meaningful about capturing your family in the space where your life actually happens. When we arrive, we’ll do a quick walk-through to find the best natural light. We usually shoot in two or three rooms—most often the primary bedroom, nursery, and/or living room.

Please don’t stress about making everything spotless. If you can tidy up or declutter a bit in those areas, great—but your home doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be yours :)

If you're looking for clean, minimalist images, we offer a portable white backdrop studio as an optional add-on for $100. Before your session, we’ll chat to make sure the setup will fit comfortably in your home—ideally near a large window or door for the best natural light. If it’s a go, we’ll bring the studio straight to you, so there's no need to take your little ones out of their familiar space.

Do you offer posed newborn sessions? Are there props?

Not in the traditional sense. If you’re looking for highly posed, studio-style newborn photos with lots of swaddling and props, I’m probably not the right fit—and that’s totally okay! My approach is more relaxed and baby-led.

We’ll still get beautiful solo shots and all those sweet tiny details (hello, baby toes), but I’m most focused on capturing natural moments—snuggles, yawns, stretches, and sleepy cuddles. I’ll bring a few soft, simple items with me, and if you have any sentimental pieces you’d like to include, I’d love to use them.

What if my kid melts down during the session?

Totally normal—and totally fine. We’ve worked with lots of toddlers and young kids, and we understand how unpredictable they can be. We can take snack breaks, drink breaks, dance breaks—whatever your kiddo needs in the moment.

Because our sessions are relaxed and not overly structured, kids usually end up having a good time. But if things just aren’t going our way that day, we can always hit pause and reschedule.

When will we receive our photos?

Your full gallery will be ready within 2–5 weeks of your session, depending on the type of session and number of images. If you ever need your photos sooner, rush editing is always an option!

How do we choose a location?

We’ll work together to pick a location that fits your family’s vibe — whether that’s your home, a favorite park, the beach, or somewhere that’s meaningful to you. I’m always happy to help brainstorm ideas!

What should we wear?

Once you’re booked, I’ll send over a simple style guide with helpful tips on what photographs well and how to coordinate your outfits. I’m always happy to weigh in on outfit options too if you need a second opinion!

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

We’ll keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to your session. If the weather isn't ideal, we can either shift the timing or reschedule for a better day. If you’d like to hold a backup rain date at the time of booking, we can secure one for a $50 retainer.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes — a 25% non-refundable retainer is due when you book to officially hold your date. The remaining balance is due by your session date.

Can we include grandparents, cousins, or pets?

Absolutely! For larger groups, take a look at our Extended Family package. And pets are always welcome (no extra charge!) — just give me a heads-up so we can plan accordingly.

Can you Photoshop me to look younger or thinner?

Sorry, no I can't. BUT I promise you’ll look like the best version of yourself. I lightly edit every photo to enhance color, light, and clarity, and I’m happy to tone down any temporary blemishes or distractions if you’d like.

What I don’t do is reshape bodies or make you look like someone you’re not. You showed up. You were present. That’s the version of you your family loves—and that’s exactly who we want to remember!

When’s the best time for a newborn session? Anything I should know?

One of the great things about lifestyle newborn sessions is that there’s no strict “perfect” window. While those curled-up, sleepy baby shots are easiest in the first couple of weeks, meaningful images can happen anytime in those early months. Our quick breakdown of what each stage tends to look like:

1–2 weeks old: Ideal for that teeny, sleepy newborn look. Most of the photos will be of your baby snoozing and snuggled up.

3–4 weeks old: A nice middle ground—baby might still doze off, but we’ll also catch some sweet eye contact and expressive faces.

5–8 weeks old: More alert, more interaction, and maybe even a few smiles. If the early weeks were a blur (and let’s be honest—they often are), this stage can be extra special.

We typically aim for a mid-morning start when babies are generally calmest, but if your little one is on their own schedule, we’ll work with that. Sessions last about two hours to leave plenty of space for feeding, changing, and cuddles. And yes—full tummies make everyone happier :)
